Championing African Photography

Publishing | Educating | Celebrating
African & Global Majority Photographers Across Borders

Who We Are

No! Wahala Media is a creative non-profit dedicated to championing African photography and educating photographers from the global majority across borders. We believe in the power of authentic, ethical storytelling to shape narratives, challenge stereotypes, and create lasting impact.

Founded by Anne & KC Nwakalor, we bring two decades of combined experience across documentary photography, editorial publishing, and ethical storytelling to help photographers grow, get seen, and build lasting careers. Our education programme is open to all photographers, with a particular focus on those from Africa and the global majority. Our publishing arm, No! Wahala Magazine, is dedicated exclusively to African photographers, telling African stories, on African terms.

We started in 2020 because African photographers and other underrepresented voices were being overlooked, undervalued, and too often spoken for rather than heard. That has not changed. Neither has our commitment to doing something about it.

Our vision is to equip photographers from Africa and the global majority with the skills, visibility, and access needed to build lasting careers. We aim to achieve this through affordable workshops, mentorships, portfolio reviews, and publishing opportunities that help visual storytellers grow, get seen, and build lasting careers.

Support Us

Your support helps us keep workshops affordable, mentor emerging photographers from Africa and the global majority, and publish African stories.

Education

We offer affordable workshops, portfolio reviews, and mentorships for photographers at every stage — from hobbyists learning to tell stories with pictures, to working professionals wanting to tell more ethical stories across cultures.

What We Do

Publishing

Through No! Wahala Magazine and collaborative photobook projects, we publish work by African photographers, celebrating authentic visual storytelling and giving photographers global visibility.

Platform

We showcase African photography made in the continent and diaspora through exhibitions, talks, and digital features — connecting photographers with audiences, editors, and curators globally.
