African Photographers Across Borders

Who We Are

No! Wahala Media is a creative non-profit dedicated to championing African photography and supporting the next generation of photographers across borders. We believe in the power of authentic, ethical and nuanced storytelling to shape narratives, challenge stereotypes, and create lasting impact. Founded by Anne & KC Nwakalor, we combine our professional experience in photojournalism, documentary photography, curation, photo editing, creative writing, education and publishing to help photographers refine their craft, connect with audiences, and unlock professional opportunities. We began in 2020 with our flagship No! Wahala Magazine and are now expanding our offerings under No! Wahala Media to continue addressing the inequalities we’ve witnessed in the industry, where African photographers are underrepresented, their work undervalued, and their stories too often told unethically by others. We want to change that.

Our vision is to equip the next generation of African photographers within the continent and diaspora with the skills, visibility, and access needed to build lasting careers. We aim to achieve this by providing funded or affordable workshops, publishing opportunities and platforms that help visual storytellers to grow, share their stories, get seen and build lasting, profitable creative careers.

Education

We offer funded or affordable, practical, and skills-focused workshops, portfolio reviews, and mentorships to support early to mid-career photographers working in documentary photography and photojournalism.

What We Do

Publishing

Through No! Wahala Magazine and collaborative photobook projects, we publish work by African photographers, celebrating authentic visual storytelling and giving photographers global visibility.

Platform

We showcase African photography made in the continent and diaspora through exhibitions, talks, and digital features — connecting photographers with audiences, editors, and curators globally.
